Collared Doves

Collared Doves

While we have several pairs of Collared Doves that appear daily, this pair is unusual in that one is almost pure white. This year is the first year it has appeared and the previous visits were not with a mate.
The Collared Doves get spooked pretty easy if you attempt to get too close, so we employed a 5X EagleEye OpticZoom that we purchased at least 20 years ago to use with a couple of point and shoot Olympus cameras. In order use it with the Leica D-Lux we glued an adapter to the front threads of the lens protector and are able to quickly screw it on. In this particular image we did not remove the vignetting, which occurs often with this kind of arrangement. The distance from camera to the bird was some fifty feet.
